HELLO PID-ians! Other than thinking about p33333333, lets take some time out for CHARITY!
The Redbox project is a youth initiative project to help less fortunate children!
If you have the time, you can sign up as volunteers at the website,
They have;
1. Flyer distribution at any of the 5 polytechnics & 3 universities
(weekdays)
2. Manning of collection point at NTU, SMU and Junction 8
3. Packing and sorting of collected shoeboxes (Feb 1 to 5)
4. Distributing to the children on 6 Feb
Or, i was thinking, we can consolidate 2 shoeboxes for 2 children, (1 boy 1 girl lah)Guidelines for the box:
Please read these simple guidelines to help you pack your shoebox with love and care.
1.Wrap the box nicely! It is, after all, a gift. The wrapping paper does not have to be red.
2.Choose who you are packing for, then print and fill up this label to indicate whether your box is intended for a 2-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl or so on.
3.Our beneficiaries are both boys and girls ranging from 2 to 18 years old, so pack gifts that will be pleasant and useful to your intended recipient. The gifts in each box should have a total value of $15 to $20.
4.Feel free to get together with a few friends to fill a box! It does not have to be one box per person. Do indicate, on the label, the number of people who contributed to the box.
5.Items in your box should be new and in perfect condition. Handmade items are acceptable.
6.Don’t seal your box! Wrap the lid and the box separately, and hold it shut with a rubber band if the lid is not secure.
Here are some suggested items that you can put in your box:
•Children: Toys, soft toys, stationery sets (pens, pencils, crayons, colour pencils etc), colouring books, picture books, craft sets
•Teens: Craft sets, storybooks, notebooks, toys (that are more appropriate for older ages), stationery, room décor items
Tip: A walk through a toy store and a book store will help you find enough items to fill your box.
Also, especially since the recipients are children, there are some items that you must not put in your box:
1.Cash of any currency
2.Used/second-hand items
3.Fragile and glass items
4.Food items, including drinks, candy and chocolate
5.Items with sharp surfaces or sharp points, including scissors, penknives, blades, etc.
6.Religious items e.g. religious books, icons, etc.
7.No living things, e.g. potted plants, pets
8.For children, items with choking hazards
Have a meaningful time packing your box! Place yourself in the shoes of your intended recipient child, and think of the things that will put the biggest smile on his or her face.
WEEEELLS,therefore, things that we need:1. Shoeboxes (that you dont want)2. Wrapping Paper3. Items to give the child, (we'll probably be giving to a 6-8 year old child for both boy and girl)IF you have any items, simple notebooks or pens or softtoys also can! anything that you think can put a smile on their faces. Please bring to the PID studio and if you dont see me(jamie) there, just put in my box (you know you know, the behind behind there) and indicate your name or smth.we'll be consolidating and wrapping the boxes on WEDNESDAY (27 January) so, yeah. BRING SOMETHING OKAY!cheers, Jamie =D
